Founded in 2022, Atelier du Tantale is evolving with the ambition of redefining the codes of contemporary jewelry.

The name "tantalum" comes from Greek mythology. It refers to Tantalus, the son of Zeus, punished by the gods for offending them. His punishment was to be submerged in a river with water up to his neck, but as soon as he tried to drink, the water receded.
This eternal torture inspired Swedish chemist Anders Ekeberg. When he discovered the element in 1802, he named the metal "tantalum" because of its remarkable resistance to acid corrosion, a quality that made it "untouchable" (and unalterable), like Tantalus's torture.

Pure tantalum is a versatile metal prized for its exceptional properties. In watchmaking and jewelry, it is valued for its unique dark gray color, sometimes tinged with blue, which gives it a modern and refined appearance. Its durability and corrosion resistance make it an ideal choice for high-quality creations, particularly rings and wedding bands.
In jewelry, tantalum is prized for its exclusivity and its ability to create modern and timeless pieces. It is also hypoallergenic, making it an ideal choice for sensitive skin. In watchmaking, its rarity and difficulty in working make it a sought-after material for exceptional pieces, particularly luxury watch cases.
