TUDOR, official timekeeper of the Rugby World Cup 2023™
As part of its long-standing partnership with World Rugby™, TUDOR is the Official Timekeeper of the Rugby World Cup 2023™, to be held from September 8 to October 28 in France. TUDOR is the Official Timekeeper for the 48 matches that will be played by 20 teams at nine venues in nine different cities. The Rugby World Cup 2023™ takes place in the year when the discipline celebrates the 200th anniversary of its creation attributed to William Webb Ellis, a young pupil at Rugby City College who gave his name to the game.
RUGBY, A REFLECTION OF THE SPIRIT THAT DRIVES TUDOR
Rugby is an uncompromising sport that places audacity at the heart of its values, a perfect reflection of the spirit that has driven the watch brand since its creation.
With 30 players competing at high intensity on the pitch to score a try against their opponents, rugby is the team sport par excellence. A blend of speed, power and daring, it demands real cohesion. Faced with increasingly well-organized defences, direct contact is not always the best approach, hence the need to develop a more fluid and unpredictable style. Although the sport has gained in popularity over the last twenty years, it has lost none of its authenticity. From the respect shown to opponents and referees on and off the pitch, rugby has retained its team spirit and camaraderie.
It is these noble values and the sense of daring conveyed by the sport, reflected in TUDOR's uncompromising positioning since 1926, that led the Swiss brand to partner with World Rugby™ in 2017 as part of its #BornToDare campaign. In addition to the Men's and Women's Rugby™ XV Cups and the Sevens World Cup, TUDOR supports the annual Under-20 Championship, which provides a springboard for the discipline's rising stars. TUDOR is also associated with the World Rugby™ Awards, which annually recognize the best teams, players and match officials of the season. Finally, TUDOR supports the Rugby Hall of Fame - an institution established in Rugby, UK, the city that saw the birth of the discipline in the 1820s - to pay tribute to those who have contributed to the game's notoriety.
